Mark S. Hess is an Ohio native. After graduating high school, Mark proudly served four years with the United States Air Force before attending and graduating from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas in 1987 with a BBA in accounting. He was licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in 1991. Mark became a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) in 2003. In 2004, he obtained the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (CVA) certification followed by the AICPA Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) certification in 2006.
Mark began his career at KPMG which was followed by working for several years at Ferguson Camp Poll, PC as an associate before becoming a partner in 1997 with Kurt & Hess LLP. Since 2005, Mark has been the managing partner of Hess Hopkins Alexander LLP. Throughout his career, he has represented clients in a wide range of industries in both the public and nonpublic sectors. Mark has extensive experience in audit as well as expertise in business consulting and business valuation engagements of closely-held entities.
Mark is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts, the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Houston Chapter of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts and an Associate Member of the Construction Financial Management Association..
Mark attends Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, and in his spare time, enjoys spending quality time with his family, bike riding, listening to the blues, and playing one of his many guitars.
